Bake sweet stick bread dough on the campfire with the Campfire Bread Skewer with Cast-iron Tip

This recipe for sweet stick bread dough makes the hearts of all sweet tooth skip a beat. An airy yeast dough, refined with sugar and a hint of vanilla. Wrapped around the tip of the Petromax Campfire Bread Skewer and baked over fire until golden brown, the result is an irresistible treat for young and old.

Ingredients

  • 500 g flour
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 pck. vanilla sugar
  • 1 sachet dry yeast
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 200 ml milk (warm)
  • 80 g butter or margarine
  • 1 Egg

Preparation

  1. Knead all the ingredients into a yeast dough.
  2. Leave to rise in a 40°C oven for approx. 30 min. 
  3. Then knead the dough again and divide it into small balls about the size of a chicken egg. Form a long strand from each dough ball and wrap it around the tip of the Campfire Bread Skewer.
  4. Press the dough down again by hand. Hold the Campfire Bread Skewer over the embers of a fire and bake evenly for approx. 10 min.

Tip: Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar and hold over the fire again briefly.
