These mini pancakes not only look tasty but they also calm the guilty conscience as one only sins on a small scale. No matter whether savoury or sweet  ̶  Poffertjes are highly popular. We show you our best Poffertjes recipe that you can easily prepare in the Petromax Poffertjes Pan.


  • 125 g wheat flour
  • 125 g buckwheat flour
  • 450 mL tepid milk
  • 5 g dry yeast (or 10 g fresh yeast)
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • cooking oil


1. Mix ingredients into a batter and let stand briefly.

2. In the meantime light the Atago, apply a thin layer of oil onto the Poffertjes Pan and place on top to heat.

3. Take down the Poffertjes Pan and fill the batter into the depressions by means of a tablespoon or a squeeze bottle then replace the pan onto the Atago.

4. After approx. 1 to 2 minutes flip the poffertjes with wood sticks and let bake from the other side for another one to two minutes.

5. Traditionally poffertjes are served with fresh butter and icing sugar.

Petromax tip for extra flavour:
Add 1 tsp. coffee powder and the pulp of a vanilla pod to the batter.
