This light and airy oven-baked pancake is easy to make and comes direct from the Dutch Oven. The Dutch Baby - also known as the Puffed Pancake - can be made with fresh apples or other seasonal fruits. We’ll show you how to make a Dutch Baby quickly and easily in your Dutch Oven.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp. Oil (for example coconut oil)
- 1 apple
- 100 g spelt flour
- 50 g oatmeal
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 3 eggs (medium-sized)
- 3 tbsp. quark (1,5% fat)
Preparation
- Peel the apple and cut into slices. Put the oil into the Dutch Oven lid and preheat with 3 briquettes underneath.
- Mix the remaining ingredients and put the batter into the lid.
- Place the apple slices on top and bake for about 30 minutes. Put the Dutch Oven upside down on top of the lid and add 7 briquettes on top of it.
Tip: A piece of the warm Dutch Baby is best served with ice cream. You can also use (seasonal) fruit to your own taste.
