Petromax Wool Blanket 150 x 200 cm (Dark red/ brown)

This makes the Wool Blanket made of woven virgin sheep's wool, made in Germany, a transportable and a spark-resistant blanket for cozy warmth:

  • Wool Blanket is made in Germany
  • Natural material virgin sheep wool: woven from 100% mulesing-free virgin sheep wool, consists of two layers and is bicolored.
  • Spark resistant and moisture barrier: the windproof, water repellent and breathable blanket is ideal for sitting around the campfire
  • reliably insulating: the blanket provides warmth and consistently protects against the cold
  • Take it anywhere: adjustable leather straps and carrying handle for convenient transportation

Mulesing free and PFC free, water repellent, windproof, breathable, spark resistant.

The Petromax Wool Blanket is made of 100% woven virgin sheep's wool made in Germany. It is manufactured without mulesing and without PFC.

Enjoy the evening by the crackling fire and a warm woolen blanket wrapped around your shoulders: This is how a day can end comfortably. The Wool Blanket made of pure virgin sheep's wool is always a number one choice. Since wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture, it remains cool in summer and warm in winter. Water-repellent and windproof are the two properties that are especially important when you want to sit on the blanket on the forest floor.

At the campfire, you will benefit from the fabric's breathability, for a comfortable feeling when folding over. Especially practical is the spark resistance, so you can enjoy the heat of the flames with a safe feeling.

100% virgin sheep wool with threads of merino wool

The bicolored blanket, which consists of two layers, is edged with borders of very fine merino wool, which gives it a secure finish. A leather patch with the Petromax logo completes the Wool Blanket.

For easy transport, the blanket is rolled up and tightened with the two adjustable straps. Using the handle, you can easily transport it from one place to another.

From sheep to loden

In Germany, traditionally sheared on the bench. In the outermost layer, the wool protects the sheep from the weather, and underneath the fleece is very light and somewhat curly.

The sheep are sheared and the wool is cleaned. First, the wool is washed in warm water with washing soda, the water is squeezed out and the wool is dried. This removes the wool grease (lanolin/wool wax) and dirt. There are several cleaning basins and in each one the wool is squeezed out and passed slowly so that it does not tangle. Then it is dried with warm air.

First, the wool is combed until a fine pile is formed, which is divided into strips and wound until large rolls of yarn are formed. In the spinning machine and twisting mill, the yarns are twisted in different directions and then portioned into reels. This makes the yarn extremely strong and then it can be woven in the weaving mill. The bouclé thread is turned into loden and the fabric is rolled. Through the pounding, pressure and friction, the compression takes place, which gives loden its excellent properties: wind and water repellent and breathable.

For centuries, Loden fabrics are already known as resilient textiles for outdoor clothing and are utilised until today, for instance as hunting garments. Petromax Loden consists of 100 % milled sheep's wool – mulesing free, sustainable and without additives. The manufacture of the durable Loden fabric takes place in Germany following traditional methods in several complex work stages. When milled the spun and woven wool is so strongly tamped in water that due to the resulting pressure and friction extreme compression is achieved. Only this makes the natural fibres become extremely robust, dimensionally stable, spark-resistant as well as resistant against water and wind. Thus, Petromax Loden Clothing is of highest quality. How to care for Petromax Loden? Petromax Loden Clothing is very low-maintenance and when observing the following tips, will endure many years of adventures: After wearing a simple airing of the garments suffices for them to smell fresh once again. Milled Loden does not absorb odours and proves resistant against body odours or smoke odour. Rough dirt can be brushed out dryly. Usually, Loden does not need to be washed. For strong and persistent dirt use the specially developed Bio Hand Washing Detergent or have your Loden clothing dry cleaned. Regular ironing condenses the surface once again and preserves water-resistance. For that purpose, adjust your iron to medium and smooth out your garment surface with low pressure.
