The Petromax Perkomax is ideal to prepare an aromatic tea or coffee without much effort. The unique percolator principle gives coffee and tea a delicious flavour.Great on all sources of heatThe Perkomax is suitable for outdoor and indoor use: It can be used on a barbecue and over a campfire, as well as on a cooking plate, a ceramic glass cooktop and an induction cooker. The Perkomax can prepare up to nine cups of tea or coffee at a time. The preparation time varies depending on the temperature of the heat source and the quantity of water.A unique taste thanks to the percolator principleWhen heated up, the water rises to the top through a small tube thanks to the ingenious percolator principle. A round filter for coffee powder is placed on the top of the tube. The hot water is pushed upwards, over the coffee powder and flows back down to the pot, as if through a sieve. It then mixes with the water and rises again. The longer the water circulates, the stronger the tea or coffee becomes. This unique principle releases the finest tee and coffee flavours. You can thus prepare an aromatic, full-bodied coffee at home or during a camping trip or any other outdoor activity without a lot of accessories.Technical dataColour: blackMaterial: steel, enamelledCapacity: 1,3 litre(s)Scope of delivery1 x Tea and Coffee Percolator "Perkomax" (Black)1 x User Manual (German/English/French) Go to User manual >>

Whether stainless steel or enamel, Percolators are an essential piece of equipment for every true outdoor adventurer. With a Percolator your hot cup of coffee after a strenuous tour is bound to be a success. The percolation principle has proven sucessful over decades and adds a very special aroma to coffee and tea thanks to the constant circulation. The coarse sieve instead of a filter also adds to the taste: Thanks to the sieve, the coffee oils are not filtered out of your cowboy coffee, which means the coffee will not be bitter even after a long boiling time.

How does a Percolator work?

Perkomax Percolators can be conveniently suspended over the fire of your outdoor kitchen or placed in embers.

As soon as the water boils, it expands and rises through the stainless-steel tube inside the kettle.

It then condenses on the lid and slowly drips back into the kettle through the coffee powder or tea leaves. There, it mixes with the rest of the water and rises again.

The longer you let the water circulate, the more aromatic your coffee or tea will be.

My Percolator coffee is not a success– what can I do?

As with other brewing techniques, it is all a matter of practice. Once you have got to know your percolator after one or two uses, you will find it much easier to use. If you are wondering why your coffee or tea does not turn out the way you want, here are a few suggestions:

Your question:

Our tip:

My lid falls off when I pour (Perkomax Enamel)

  • Make sure that the anti-tilt mechanism (nose) is on the handle side. This way the lid will stay in place.

The water does not boil.

  • Please note the minimum filling quantity. If there is too little water in the Percolator, the water cannot rise.

My coffee is too weak.

  • The brewing time should be at least 12 minutes measured from the time the water boils. You can boil the coffee longer if you like, it will not harm the taste.
  • There should be enough coffee in the filter basket (approx. 8-9 teaspoons) with the top end of the tube in the filter basket serving as the maximum marker.

My coffee boils over / splashes.

  • Please note the maximum filling quantity. If the Percolator is overfilled, the water may overflow.

How do I know when my coffee or tea is boiling?

  • As soon as the water starts to boil, you will hear it very clearly. Never remove the lid during the boiling process, as boiling hot water will splash out of the tube.
